The 2019 Ford Edge ST will be built in Oakville with claimed highest power V6 in its segment.
DETROIT, MI: There was good news for Oakville at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with the announcement Ford will build the 2019 Edge ST in Oakville.
This is also the first time a Ford SUV/CUV is offered at the ST trim level which means it has been enhanced by Ford’s in-house performance division.
It starts with the claimed most powerful V6 in its class with a twin-turbo, direct injection 2.7-litre producing 335 hp and 380 lb/ft of torque.
Power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission to standard all-wheel-drive with a ST tuned sports suspension along with performance brakes.
New is a driver selectable Sport Mode that makes for more aggressive throttle response and shift mapping that holds gears closer to the redline along with crisper engine braking.
Styling cues for the Edge ST included a new front and rear end with the wide mesh grille optimized for cooling while there are dual exhausts.
The Edge ST, along with all 2019 Edge models, are claimed by Ford to be the smartest ever with standard Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic Brake Support, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping Alert, Lane-Keeping Assist, Auto High Beams and Hill-Start Assist.
Additional standard safety features include AdvanceTrac electronic stability control with Roll Stability Control/Curve Control and 911 Assist.
