With the full reveal coming later this year, for now we settle for an official teaser of the Ferrari Purosangue.
Ferrari
- The Ferrari Utility Vehicle will likely carry the Purosangue nameplate when it hits production.
- The Italian brand says it will officially reveal the crossover by year’s end.
- Ferrari hasn’t openly discussed possible powertrains, but the 296 GTB’s gas-electric hybrid is an option.
The times are changing. Crossovers and SUVs are kings, and luxury car makers and sports car builders are jumping on the bandwagon. From Lamborghini to Rolls-Royce, nearly everyone is looking at ‘utes to help give people what they want. Finally, Ferrari is teasing its sport-utility effort.
Expected to be called the Purosangue, this will be Ferrari’s first crossover. The company first said it planned to roll out what it called a Ferrari Utility Vehicle as early as 2018, with production launch expected in 2022. Judging by the teaser image, it appears the timeline is close to being on track.
While Ferrari officially notes it will show off the entirety of this FUV later this year, we can glean some of the styling notes from the teaser. We can see most of the nose of Ferrari’s crossover, and it shows an aggressive hood and extremely narrow lights. It also shows off a grille that sports Ferrari’s legendary prancing horse.
As for hard facts, Ferrari is keeping those close to the vest. It’s easy to speculate this upcoming crossover will see a hybrid powertrain as Ferrari uses in the 296 GTB or a variant of the 3.9-liter V8 found under the hood of the Ferrari Roma. Regardless of which powertrain Ferrari chooses to move the Purosangue, it will undoubtedly be quick.
With the rest of Ferrari’s crossover still a large question mark, it’s hard to guess how much one of these will cost. Though, we expect it to be at least as expensive as Lamborghini’s Urus, which means we doubt the Ferrari Purosangue will set you back less than $200,000.
