Ferrari is recalling some 23,555 example of its supercars from model-year 2005 through to 2022.
Cars from across the marque’s history are subject to the recall, including the multi-million-dollar limited-production specials like the F60 America and LaFerrari. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a full list of affected Ferrari models.
The NHTSA report, filed July 26, explains the issue is with the brake fluid reservoir cap on affected vehicles. Poor ventilation in that system means a loosened reservoir cap creates a vacuum in the reservoir, which can cause brake fluid to leak. Naturally, too many fluid leaks could cause the car to lose braking ability, which can be dangerous, especially considering the speeds some Ferraris are capable of.
A similar recall detailing a brake failure risk was issued in October 2021. It affected certain 2010 through 2015 Ferrari 458s and 2016 through 2019 Ferrari 488s — almost 10,000 vehicles, according to Car and Driver.
Ferrari advises that owners of the affected cars pay close attention to any brake or brake fluid warnings. The automaker also asks that, should you see any such warnings, that you pull over and wait for Ferrari Roadside Assistance to tow the vehicle to the nearest dealer.
Dealerships and owners will be notified of the recall on or before September 24, 2022.
