Is the Mitsubishi ASX a good car?
Enthusiasts of the brand will know that this model is a good option as it will do exactly what it promises. However, when compared with some of its segment peers, it is slightly antiquated.
Who is the Mitsubishi ASX a good car for?
The Mitsubishi ASX is a good car for younger individuals that are planning or has just started a family. While it won’t tackle a rugged 4X4 route, it does offer good ground clearance and a punchy motor for urban and rural travelling.
Is the Mitsubishi ASX a good first car?
The model does lean itself as a good first car with its compact dimensions and good visibility to the outside. It is a practical choice and at the price of the entry-level variants, an attainable one too.
Is the Mitsubishi ASX a good family car?
The ASX offers ample space inside the cabin and boot to accommodate a family comfortably. In addition, customers will be happy to know that the LS variants provide seven airbags for the protection of the vehicle occupants in the case of an accident.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
We found the ASX best when cruising just below the national limit, where the ride is acceptable, the cabin intrusion average and the engine not overworking, spinning at around 3 500r/min. In the stop/start commute scenario, we found ourselves wanting an automatic after 3 hours a day of depressing the clutch and self-shifting. We also headed to a local off-road route to grab some photographs, where the 195mm of ground clearance allowed us to tackle one of the more basic trails, however, we would recommend that light-off-roading be the limit for a front-wheel-drive crossover like the ASX.

What is the Mitsubishi ASX like inside?
The interior offers up hard but durable plastics and on the ES derivatives, customers can expect cloth seats whereas the LS variants get leather upholstery. The latest iterations of the ASX get a competent touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, however, the screen resolution is quite low. In terms of space, the ASX, even as the smaller of the two crossovers on offer from the Japanese automaker, offer ample of space for the rear occupants and a large 406-litres boot.
Style
An area for which Mitsubishi needs to be commended is its unique styling. The ASX, although similar in design to the rest of Mitsubishi’s line-up, is quite different from the other competitors in this segment. The exterior has a sharp and angular design and is finished of with chrome trim to add to its exclusivity. The bright daytime running lights and darkened taillamps do add its premium style.
