On April 13, XPeng officially announced that its GX technology launch event will take place on April 15. The company describes the GX as a new flagship for the “physical AI era,” focusing on four key areas: safety, chassis, intelligent driving, and space. The model will also be offered in two new exterior colors, Sunrise Gold and Fjord Grey. Xpeng GX in Sunrise Gold color According to prior regulatory filings, the XPeng GX will be available in both extended-range and battery electric variants. The battery electric version offers a maximum range of 750 km, while the extended-range version delivers 320 km of pure electric range. In terms of dimensions, the GX measures 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm, positioning it as a large six-seat SUV. The model will be the first globally mass-produced vehicle to feature Bosch’s next-generation steer-by-wire system, natively supporting L4 autonomous driving. Xpeng GX in Fjord Grey color The system integrates more than 100 functions, marking the first time L4-level steer-by-wire capability is deployed in a production vehicle priced below RMB 500,000 ($72,500). According to XPeng founder He Xiaopeng, the GX is built on a new SEPA 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture. The entire lineup is expected to come standard with an 800V high-voltage platform and dual-motor intelligent all-wheel drive. For intelligent driving, the vehicle will be equipped with four in-house developed Turing AI chips, delivering local computing power of up to 3,000 TOPS. The XNGP 5.0 system is expected to achieve response latency below 80 milliseconds, integrating Robotaxi technologies to support full-scenario advanced autonomous driving. Xpeng D03 spy shot According to the company’s roadmap, XPeng plans to launch four new models this year: G01 (GX), G02, and two models under the Mona brand, D02 and D03, all of which are positioned as key entries in the SUV segment. Latest data shows XPeng delivered 27,415 vehicles in March, down 17.4% year-on-year but up 79.6% month-on-month. Against a 2026 delivery target of 550,000 to 600,000 units, the GX serves both as a technology showcase and a strategic model to move the brand further upmarket, representing a key test in the premium segment.
