Image: TransercoOn 1 April, Transerco commissioned 56 medium-sized electric buses on routes 15 (Gia Lam Bus Station – Pho Ni, Soc Son), 17 (Long Bien – Noi Bai), and 36 (Long Bien – Yen Xa). On 18 April, the company added 53 more medium-sized units to its fleet, and it uses them on the bus lines 16 (My Dinh Bus Station – Nuoc Ngam Bus Station), 24 (Long Bien – Nga Tu So – Cau Giay), and 29 (Giap Bat Bus Station – Tan Lap).Transerco did not reveal the model name(s) or specifications of the medium-sized electric buses it is using on the aforementioned routes. However, the images it issued with their press announcements suggest it is using VinFast’s EB 8 and Green Bus 8, both of which are just differently named versions of the same low-floor model.The EB 8 and Green Bus 8 measure 8,610 mm in length, 2,470 mm in width, and 3,220 mm in height and have a 4,850 mm wheelbase. The eight-metre electric buses feature an air suspension at both ends and have a kneeling mechanism to aid ingress and egress. They can travel up to around 290 kilometres on a full charge. Local websites also refer to them as the ‘Ebus 8m’, priced at 4.1 billion dong (approx. €133,000 euros).On 22 April, Transerco put eleven more electric buses into operation on route 90 (Hao Nam – Noi Bai Airport). For this deployment, the company said that it is using a fleet of the Green Bus 8 model. In a separate announcement regarding this development, the Hanoi government said the city will introduce 16 more electric buses on 24 April.Between 25 and 30 April, Hanoi plans to deploy 95 more electric buses on six routes. Following this deployment, the city will have 682 electric buses and 139 CNG buses, making up 42.1 per cent of the total fleet.
