Image: SolarisThe Scandinavian public transport operator Nobina is once again expanding its bus fleet in Sweden with battery-electric vehicles from Solaris. “The latest contracts mark another significant order,” Solaris states. This time, the operator has ordered a total of 103 Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric buses through three separate contracts. Fifty of the low-floor electric buses will be deployed in the Stockholm region, 49 in the Skåne region, and four in the Gothenburg area. The Urbino 15 LE electric buses are designed for both urban and suburban services. Each vehicle ordered by Nobina will be equipped with modern Solaris High Energy batteries, which offer high capacity, according to the Polish manufacturer, though further details have not been provided. These batteries ensure ‘sufficient range for routes extending beyond urban areas.’Solaris has collaborated continuously with Nobina since 2010. In recent years, the Scandinavian transport company has steadily expanded its zero-emission fleet in Sweden. Since 2024, Solaris has delivered a total of 201 electric buses to Nobina. Additionally, between 2026 and 2027, the bus manufacturer will supply over 320 electric vehicles to the transport operator. The most recent partial order, placed last August, was for 180 e-buses for Malmö, accounting for well over half of the 320 vehicles currently in production.Solaris views the current order as further evidence of Nobina’s ambitious plans: “The contract for 103 electric buses ordered by Nobina marks another important milestone in the development of sustainable bus transport in Sweden. Choosing the Urbino 15 LE electric means choosing zero emissions, but above all, comfort. We are very proud that Nobina has once again placed its trust in us, and we look forward to further developing our existing partnership,” said Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Sverige AB.solarisbus.com
