The new model boasts five seats, a 5-meter body, and dual-motor AWD for 724 hp. Previously, GWM launched the Wey V9X full-size three-row plug-in hybrid crossover, positioned as a rival to other flagship crossovers, including the Zeekr 9X and the Aito M9. A smaller version of this SUV is the Wey V8X. It was initially revealed with a plug-in hybrid system. However, GWM officials reported that the V-series will include HEV and BEV powertrain variants due to the utilization of the GWM One platform. The GWM Wey V8X In July, GWM filed for the BEV variant of the V8X crossover with a BEV powertrain. It adopts two electric motors. The front YS220QY234 e-motor is manufactured by the Bosch-backed UAES. Its peak power output is 220 kW (295 hp). The rear axle adopts a QT70TZ220001 from GWM subsidiary Svolt. This e-motor generates 320 kW (429 hp). The combined peak power output of the V8X EV is 540 kW (724 hp). The Wey V8X offers a top speed of 220 km/h. The car boasts dimensions of 5000(5040)/2025/1808(1823) mm, depending on the different trim variants. The wheelbase is 2,968 mm. The front and rear overhangs are 949 and 1,083 mm, respectively. Inside, the Wey V8X has five seats. The approach and departure angles reach 19 and 23 degrees. The car utilizes three wheel options: 255/50 R20, HL255/50 R21, and 275/45 R21. Equipment of the GWM Wey V8X The exterior styling of the GWM Wey V8X adopts a closed front end without a radiator grille. To keep the electric system cool, this SUV has an active air intake. Another highlight of the V8X is two headlamps joined with an LED strip. It also adopts a LiDAR sensor on the roof. Similar to other recently launched GWM cars, the V8X has traditional door handles. From the back, this SUV has a single taillight unit. Last year, GWM lagged behind the trend of the new energy vehicle development with a share of 30.49%. This year, the automaker from Baoding pushes its PHEV and BEV lineups to keep up with the market transformation. According to China EV DataTracker, the Wey brand delivered 40,828 units domestically from January to June 2026, up 24.3% Year-Over-Year.
