Yu Bin, Assistant Vice President of NIO and Head of ONVO Product, revealed today that the 2026 ONVO L90 will be launched in late April, while also sharing some configuration details about the model. The biggest highlight of the 2026 L90 is the first-ever addition of a LiDAR-equipped version. Yu Bin noted that due to recent price increases in high-performance memory and other components, the cost of the new version has risen by nearly 10,000 RMB (approx. $1,450). Whether this will affect the final pricing of the new model remains unclear. At the same time, the existing L90 pure-vision version will continue to be sold alongside the new model, and its overall intelligent capabilities will also receive a major update, covering areas such as the smart cockpit, smart chassis, and smart assisted driving. Yu Bin, Head of ONVO Product, shares details of the new car’s launch. The newly updated end-to-end smart assisted driving model will bring a comprehensive experience iteration, significantly improving urban and highway pilot assistance. Meanwhile, highly anticipated features such as human-machine co-driving and personalized parking position selection will also go live. Yu Bin emphasized that this upgrade will cover all pure-vision ONVO models released since the brand’s launch in 2024. As early as January this year, the ONVO L90 LiDAR version had already appeared on the MIIT filing. The announcement shows that the new model will also offer exterior options such as two-tone paint and new wheel designs. ONVO L90 LiDAR Edition The ONVO L90 was launched on July 31, 2025, positioned as ONVO’s first flagship large SUV. The full vehicle purchase price starts at 265,800 RMB, while the BaaS (Battery as a Service) option starts at 179,800 RMB. Since its official deliveries began in August, the model has shown strong market competitiveness, delivering over 10,000 units in its first full month and maintaining deliveries of over 10,000 units for three consecutive months. However, this growth momentum came to an abrupt halt in November last year. Data shows that ONVO L90 sales began to decline in November, with monthly deliveries dropping from 11,722 units in October to just 5,970 units in November — a sharp decline of nearly 50%. In the following months, the downward trend continued, and in the first two months of 2026, the ONVO L90 barely managed to maintain monthly sales of around 1,500 units. ONVO chassis The sharp fluctuation in ONVO L90 sales is no accident. On one hand, direct competition from internal group models played a major role. In September 2025, NIO launched the all-new ES8, with a BaaS starting price of 298,800 RMB. This pricing strategy created a clear “trade-off” trend between the two models. Some users have pointed out that the target customer bases of the two models overlap heavily, with many adopting a “newer is better” mentality. Combined with the influence of NIO’s main brand, many potential L90 buyers have switched to the ES8. Additionally, in the second half of 2025, several competing models with similar positioning were launched, which also diverted some of the ONVO L90’s core customer base. ONVO L90 Facing internal competition with the NIO ES8, the 2026 ONVO L90’s ability to make clearer distinctions in product definition and market strategy, while keeping pace with the main brand’s intelligent driving and service capabilities, will be key to maintaining the L90’s competitiveness. Data shows that as of the end of March 2026, the ONVO L90 has accumulated a total of 49,527 deliveries.
