A Florida woman says threatening to sue her dealership led to a settlement within 24 hours. The result is that she bought an Audi for $10k less than MSRP. TikTok creator Michelle (@thetrademarkattorney) posted a video about her experience over the weekend. "So this is your sign to be a Karen," she says. "A couple weeks ago, I threatened to sue my car dealership, and we ended up settling within 24 hours. And the check is at my mom’s house right now." Why Did Florida Woman Threaten to Sue Dealership? Michelle clarifies that the conflict wasn’t about the vehicle. Instead, she felt like the dealership’s negotiation practices qualified as deceptive. "They thought I would let it slide," she says. "I called Audi USA, I called the dealership. And then I finally sent my demand letter with all of the issues that I had with what was going on." That led to a call from the dealership manager. "We get to arguing back and forth," she says. "I’m just laying out my case. I’m laying out what happened. And they thought that because I talked to them that everything was OK. Then I followed up with another email and said let’s rescind this contract." She says she sent them a demand letter "with all of the issues that I had with what was going on." In another conversation with the dealership management, Michelle revealed that she is a former consumer protection attorney and that she would be consulting with a friend who is a practicing consumer protection attorney about her options. She says that led to the manager suggesting they pause the conversation. The next day he called her back with a settlement offer, which her friend reportedly advised her to accept. She had some reservations. "I really had a case," she says. Michelle doesn’t say what the dealership purportedly did to give her a case. Ultimately, however, Michelle decided to take the offer. "I’m a microwave girl. I just really need things to wrap up quickly." "This is your sign to first of all read your contracts," Michelle says to conclude the video. "Second of all, you have a lot more power than you think you do. Third of all, I hated law school, but I’m so thankful that I have the skills to read and negotiate. And I ended up getting this car for $10,000 less than MSRP." Viewers React to the Florida Woman’s Dealership Experience In the comments section, other car shoppers weighed in to support Michelle for standing up to the dealership. In a reply to a comment, Michelle said the dealership is Audi Coral Springs. "I hate that it has to come down to being a Karen," one person wrote. "Being cordial and nice gets you walked over." "I think car dealerships will try to think women won’t stick up for themselves or read between the lines, but you need to be able to stick up for yourself and read everything thoroughly," said a second person. Another self-described attorney wrote, "Same, I hated law school, but I’m grateful for how educated and empowered I am. Glad everything worked out for you." What’s Going on at Audi Coral Springs?
