But Stellantis sensed that there was still a market for a workhorse that could handle the needs of business owners without the unwieldy footprint of the full-size vans, and is filling the now unoccupied niche with the 2027 Ram ProMaster City. We now have official pricing for the new Ram van, which starts at less than $40,000, making it the most affordable commercial van available in the U.S.RamThe 2027 Ram ProMaster City will start at $39,995 for the base Tradesman Cargo trim. Stepping up to the SLT Cargo trim will require $41,495. Both trims will also be offered in Passenger Wagon form, with the Tradesman going for $42,695 and the SLT costing $44,195.AdvertisementAdvertisementAll 2027 ProMaster City vans come standard with a 5-inch digital rearview mirror, a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There are also standard heated front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and automatic up/down windows. Upgrading to the SLT brings a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charger, and front parking sensors. It also adds fog lamps, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and sees the front bumper and rear bumper side panels painted body color.RamThe new ProMaster City isn't quite as small as the previous generation, which was based on the Fiat Doblò. The 2027 model is instead based on the Citroen Jumpy (also known as the Fiat Scudo, among many other names), shifting it into the mid-size class. It measures 210 inches long, up by nearly two feet, 76.7 inches tall, a 2.7-inch increase, and 75.7 inches wide, a 3.6-inch jump. That makes it closer in size to the Chevy Express, but still significantly smaller.Motivation comes via a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder, which cranks out 166 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both the towing capability and payload capability max out at 2000 pounds, and the cargo area measures 167 cubic feet. While that's far less than the max capacity for bigger vans like the Ford Transit, which can tow up to 6900 pounds and carry up to 5103 pounds, it should still be enough for many small business owners, while also being more manageable to drive around town. Production will start later this year in Bursa, Turkey, with deliveries kicking off in the first quarter of 2027.➡️ Skip the lot.
