Ram says the entire 2026 allocation of the 5.7-liter Rumble Bee was sold out 90 minutes after orders opened. The entry-level truck starts at $59,995, while the attention-grabbing 777-horsepower SRT is priced at $97,790. Dealers expected the base Rumble Bee to move the most units, but they couldn't have anticipated the demand this truck has racked up, with the order book filled through March 2027 in 24 hours. With Ram taking a chance on a formula that hasn't historically always worked, the Rumble Bee looks like it's convinced buyers that a street truck is worth buying in the first place.StellantisThe $60,000 Truck Matters More Than The 777-HP OneRam has built a tidy staircase, with prices shown before the $2,795 destination fee.395 hp for $59,995470 hp for $69,995470 hp with the Track Pack for $79,995777 hp for $94,995The first three rungs are an even $10,000 apart, which is the kind of neat arithmetic that makes a salesperson's job pleasant. The jump to the base 470-hp truck buys about 75 extra horses, so it works out to roughly $133 for each one. The Track Pack adds no power at all, only hardware, so it is the pure enthusiast tax. Then comes the SRT, which costs $15,000 more than the Track Pack and delivers 307 additional horsepower, or about $49 per horse. Funny enough, the halo truck is the bargain of the lineup, if you can call a $94,995 pickup a bargain. It also hands every buyer a ready-made excuse to stretch one rung higher. We're Seeing A Reversal Of The Performance-Truck PlaybookFor years, American performance pickups became synonymous with off-road hardware. Ford has the Raptor, Ram has the TRX, and buyers paid enormous premiums for trucks designed to jump dunes. The Rumble Bee reverses that formula. It takes the same basic idea of excessive horsepower and applies it to a truck that is lower, shorter and designed around pavement.Ford has already tested the idea with the F-150 Lobo, a roughly $60,000 street truck with a 400-hp 5.0-liter V8. Ram's answer starts at essentially the same money, but gives buyers a 395-hp Hemi, a shortened chassis and a four-truck performance ladder that eventually reaches 777 hp.But "Sold Out" Isn't Quite The Story YetThe Rumble Bee doesn't need to become the next TRX to matter. If Ram can sell a meaningful number of $60,000 street trucks, it proves there's room in the pickup market for something that doesn't need to jump a desert to justify its horsepower. For a company that has spent years making trucks bigger, tougher and more expensive, that might be the more interesting experiment.
