On March 18, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) released the 2024 edition of the China-ICAP (Intelligent Connected Vehicle Assessment Program) results. The ONVO L90 achieved five-star ratings in the three categories of driving assistance, smart cockpit, and privacy protection. With this result, the ONVO L90 has now secured a full house of five-star ratings from CATARC’s three major assessment programs: C-NCAP (crash safety), C-GCAP (green and health), and C-ICAP (vehicle intelligence). It achieved the highest score of 95.98% in occupant protection, followed by 92.86% in active safety and 78.64% in VRU (Vulnerable Road User) protection. In C-GCAP, the model earned the highest rating of five-star plus in the health and energy efficiency categories, and a five-star rating in the low carbon category. Finally, in C-ICAP, the ONVO L90 passed all tests with five-star ratings across the board, and received a five-star plus rating in the driving assistance category. ONVO L90 Since its launch in July 2025, the ONVO L90’s deliveries exceeded 10,000 units in its first month on the market, quickly opening up new incremental growth for the brand. Data shows that from August to October 2025, the model’s monthly sales exceeded 10,000 units for three consecutive months, peaking at 11,722 units in October. Entering 2026, sales of the L90 declined sharply, weighed down by the Lunar New Year holiday, the tapering of policy support, and the strong performance of the all-new ES8. Deliveries in January and February managed to stay only slightly above the 1,000-unit mark. According to Ledao Auto’s product roadmap for 2026, the brand will leverage NIO’s NT3.0 platform to target the RMB 200,000–350,000 family-oriented battery electric vehicle segment, with plans to launch three new models. Among them, Ledao Auto’s third SUV, the L80, is set to debut and go on sale in May. Meanwhile, updated versions of the existing L90 and L60 will be introduced with lidar-equipped variants, to be sold alongside the current vision-only configurations. As 2026 unfolds, the launch of fresh models like ONVO’s L90 and NIO’s ES9 will put the company’s profitability targets to the test. Whether NIO can deliver its first annual profit remains to be seen.
