FAW Toyota bZ5 550 Pro recorded an overall score rate of 86.7% in the C-NCAP test. On January 9, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center’s Automotive Evaluation Management Center released its latest batch of C-NCAP results, granting the all-electric Toyota bZ5 550 Pro a five-star rating. In terms of detailed performance, the bZ5 550 Pro achieved score rates of 93.02% for occupant protection, 75.69% for vulnerable road user protection, and 83.34% for active safety. Across a range of sub-tests—including full-vehicle crash tests, lighting performance, far-side impact protection, AEB car-to-car scenarios, pedestrian protection, and whiplash tests—the model recorded an overall score rate of 86.7%. C-NCAP rating report for the Toyota bZ5 550 Pro The bZ5 was officially launched in June 2025. The initial lineup includes four variants: 550 Joy, 550 Pro, 550 Pro Smart Driving Edition, and 630 Pro, priced from RMB 129,800 to 159,800 ($18,100-$22,300). The Toyota bZ5 offers multiple range options, all equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs, delivering CLTC-rated combined driving ranges of 550 km and 630 km. From a sales perspective, the bZ5 has not fully replicated the trajectory previously seen with the bZ3. Public data show that the bZ5 recorded sales of 1,409 units in its launch month. Volumes then rose gradually from July to September, peaking at 3,019 units in September, before retreating to 2,005 units in October and 1,169 units in November. FAW Toyota bZ5 Overall, the trend reflects an initial upswing followed by a pullback, indicating limited stability so far. This performance is closely tied to FAW Toyota’s broader new energy vehicle lineup. The bZ series currently comprises the bZ3, bZ4X, and bZ5. Among them, the bZ3 has long ranked top in Toyota’s NEV sales, supported largely by demand from the ride-hailing market. Toyota bZ3 The bZ4X, by contrast, has largely exited mainstream competition due to a combination of pricing, product competitiveness, and timing issues, leaving only limited inventory to be cleared. The bZ5 was initially expected to carry forward a “bZ3-style” strategy, but its actual market performance aligns more closely with a conservative, family-oriented product. Data show that in full-year 2025, FAW Toyota reported cumulative vehicle sales of 805,500 units, marking its third consecutive year of positive growth.
