Image: OnvoJust weeks after its unveiling at Auto China in Beijing and the start of pre-orders, the Onvo L80 is now available for purchase and delivery. The vehicle is priced from 156,800 yuan (just under 20,000 euros) when the battery—still a requirement—is leased with a monthly payment, or from 242,800 yuan (around 31,000 euros) when purchasing the electric SUV outright, including the battery. The L80 is based on the same platform as the L90, which was introduced a year ago. Its dimensions—5.145 metres in length, 2 metres in width, and 1.77 metres in height—along with a wheelbase of 3.11 metres, are identical, and the body shape is very similar. The key difference is the omission of a third row of seats, which allows the entire space to be dedicated to two rows of seats and storage. This means the L80 offers significantly more legroom for passengers and additional space for luggage. The boot offers a standard volume of 1,200 litres—according to Nio, this is the largest boot among mass-produced SUVs in China. When the rear seats are fully folded down, the volume expands to 2,600 litres with a depth of 2.20 metres. Combined with the 240-litre frunk, this results in a maximum storage capacity of 2,840 litres, significantly exceeding the typical range of 1,500 to 1,800 litres for vehicles in this segment.Onvo developed the L80 to cater to family trips and camping excursions. To this end, the electric SUV includes several special features, such as a 30-litre refrigerator in the rear. In total, the vehicle offers 53 storage compartments. The L80 is also powerful, with two drivetrain options available: a rear-wheel-drive version delivering 340 kW, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and an all-wheel-drive variant with a 440 kW system, which completes the sprint in 4.7 seconds. All variants of the Onvo L80 are equipped with an 85 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive model achieves a range of 605 km (CLTC), while the all-wheel-drive version manages 570 km. Thanks to its 900-volt architecture, the vehicle supports ultra-fast charging with a peak output of up to 600 kW. At compatible charging stations, this allows around 250 km of CLTC range to be added in just five minutes. Alternatively, the battery can be swapped at one of approximately 2,500 Onvo-compatible battery swap stations operated by Nio in China. In addition to its premium interior, the Onvo L80 features cutting-edge technology. Onvo has continued its dual-track strategy for intelligent driving in the L80, as previously implemented in the recently updated L90. There are two options: a high-end version with LiDAR and a vision-only version without LiDAR. The LiDAR version is equipped with Nio’s self-developed driving assistance chip, the Shenji NX9031, which is combined with the Nio World Model driving assistance software to enhance the driving and parking experience. The vision-only version features the Nvidia Orin X chip. This product strategy is designed to offer greater flexibility for customers with varying budgets and requirements for intelligent driving.cnevpost.com, carnewschina.com
