There are reposts of hard shifts, sudden loss of power, unintended acceleration, lurching, and grinding. The transmissions started to fail between 16,000 to 95,000 miles, casting quite a wide net.
But there are no recalls or investigations about transmission issues. Also, the Explorer was redesigned in 2020. That’s when it got a new smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.
