Official upgrades boost supercharged V8 to an astonishing 660kW without voiding the warranty
For those unhinged owners who think their Dodge Challenger Hellcat or Demon doesn’t produce enough power already the US car-maker has released a new range of aftermarket performance parts that boost power.
Launched under its new MOPAR Direct Connection sub-brand, the upgrades mirror a similar program that was introduced back in 1974 and aim to offer its customers factory-built, factory-tested and factory-backed upgrades.
This means buy and fit them to your new Charger, Challenger or Durango and the car-maker says your Dodge will continue to honour the standard factory warranty – which in the States is a three-year 50,000km for the car and five-years/100,000km for the powertrain.
Covering everything from non-road legal drag racing parts, official ECU tunes and even a Stage 1 engine tune for the Red Eye’s supercharged 6.2-litre.
The latter raise total power of the Red Eye’s V8 from 594kW/959Nm to an incredible 660kW and 1067Nm of torque, the US car-maker has confirmed that, in the event of a failure caused related to the existing engine or addition of new parts, it will cover the loss.
According to Dodge, to extract the monumental increase in power over the Redeye, or even Demon (603kW/972Nm), the Dodge needs little more than an ECU tune and a Hellephant supercharger pulley.
Similar upgrades are also offered for the lesser Hellcat that raise power from 527kW/880Nm to 565kW and 944kW of torque.
No acceleration or performance claims have been offered with the new kits, but Dodge says all add-ons have been certified to comply with US emission regulations.
Full pricing will be released closer to when the official power upgrades go on sale this March.
