Deal Hunter: Retiring Mitsubishi Express bears end of financial year gift
The end of the financial year is fast approaching and, despite industry-wide stock shortages, there are still plenty of traditional EOFY deals to be had.
For both private and fleet buyers alike, the EOFY is an ideal time to pull the trigger on a new vehicle – even more so if that vehicle is on run-out or about to be axed…
That’s exactly the case when it comes to the 2022 Mitsubishi Express GLX SN SWB automatic, given Mitsubishi has called time on its re-skinned Renault Trafic commercial van and the bulk of production has already wound down.

Usually asking $44,040 plus on-road costs, Mitsubishi is currently offering its punchiest van to ABN buyers for $44,440 drive-away, while private buyers will have to front up another $600 ($45,040 drive-away).
The born-again Mitsubishi Express never managed to make it as one of the mid-size van segment’s heavy-hitters in terms of sales, but it is still a solid load-hauling option made more appealing by this new injection of value.
Mitsubishi said in late April that Express stock would likely be available until the final quarter of this year, so it’s little wonder that on-road costs and being thrown in now – especially as tax time approaches.
Of course, not everyone wants or needs a fleet-spec van – most private buyers these days are opting for dual-cab 4×4 utes or SUVs and it’s the SUV buyers that Renault is targeting with its 2022 Renault Koleos Black Edition automatic.

Wedged in between the mid-spec Koleos Zen and the top-spec Intens 4×2 in terms of pricing, the Black Edition has carried an even $42,000 drive-away price tag since the day Renault confirmed just 400 examples for Australia.
Evidently Renault still has some stock remaining because the Vader-spec mid-range Black Edition is still being advertised.
Beyond the black exterior and cabin touches, the Koleos Black Edition offers a bigger 8.7-inch infotainment interface than the Zen it’s based on, as well as bigger 19-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, bespoke badging and contrast yellow stitching.
MG prices may have risen in recent months – especially with the arrival of the MY22 line-up – but the Chinese brand is still offering tempting drive-away prices across its entire range, including the 2022 MG MG3 Excite automatic.
The most lavish grade of MG’s entry-level MG3 hatch range, the MY22 Excite is priced from $20,490 drive-away and ships with a six-speaker sound system, smartphone mirroring, cruise control, partial faux-leather trim and satellite-navigation – everything budget-minded city-car buyers will likely want.
