It takes loads of power if you want to be able to spin all of those tires.
Ever think that there just aren’t enough 6×6 pickups around? Well, apparently you’re not the only one. Because the Bureko 6×6 is here to take on the Hennessey Velociraptor with style that might make you think of a certain now-defunct GM brand.
Bureko is based in the Czech Republic. And while that might beg for Skoda comparisons, the only way you’d put the two together is if you were crushing one under the wheels of this monster.
It starts with a stretched frame. Then the first axle is repositioned and a second one gets added. Of course, in order to fit them in there, you’re going to need a new bed. And while you’re at the job of restyling the box, why not make some changes. We didn’t say improvments, though that’s in the eye of the beholder.
The box fenders get squared off and beefed up to bulge out and clear the four rear wheels. Up front, the bodywork of the Silverado gets replaced by something that’s a little more 2000s GM. The nose is very much reminiscent of the Hummer H2. Not quite a copy, but it’s definitely close. The new tailgate is very Hummer-like as well.
It takes loads of power if you want to be able to spin all of those tires. Even more power if you want to show off with a truck that can run with the Velociraptor or the Mercedes-AMG G 63 6×6. So Bureko offers buyers a whole lot of choices under the hood.
The standard engine is the 6.2L V8 and 420 hp that comes straight from Chevrolet under the hood of the base truck. Then things start to get wild. A supercharger kit with intercooler and software upgrades bring the truck to 600 hp. Then buyers can get a Stage 2 kit that upgrades the blower and intercooler and adds a new fuel system including the pump and rails. That’ll get you 650 hp.
A Stage 3 kit comes with new cylinder heads and a new camshaft and gets you all the way to 700 hp.
For more power, a 6.8L stroker V8 is available. Different pistons and a stronger crank, along with upgrades to the supercharger kit take the truck all the way to 800 hp.
Then it’s time for the real engines. A 7.0L V8 with a new cam, headers, and upgrades on just about everything under the hood will get you 1,000 hp. At that power level you also get a forged torque converter, upgraded six-speed automatic, and stronger drive shafts and axles. And if that’s not enough they’re working on a 7.2L kit with 1,200 hp.
It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s certainly no wallflower. And hey, competition in the 6×6 market is heating up.
