It's a miracle everyone involved was able to walk away from this.
A Fairfax County, Virginia police officer avoided serious injury after nearly being crushed during a traffic stop with a BMW 7-Series after a 2018 BMW M3 traveling in the opposite direction lost control, crossed the median, and struck the 7-Series.
The Fairfax County Police Department published video of the May 1 incident to Facebook on Tuesday, showing the black four-door slide across the grass and into the 750i at high speed. The M3 also strikes the officer’s cruiser, but fortunately avoids crushing the officer, who was standing behind the 7-Series at the time of impact.
Unreal video from Fairfax County Police. Officer was doing a traffic stop near Fairfax when FCPD says a 17 yr old driving a BMW M3 over 120 mph lost control & slammed into the pulled over car. It’s a miracle but no one involved was seriously hurt. Turn the sound up to hear it. pic.twitter.com/Lg6N84PR4W

The person inside the 7-Series was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and has since been released. The officer was able to walk away from the incident with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the M3 also suffered minor injuries. The driver, a 17-year-old, was charged with reckless driving. It’s unclear if the driver of the 7-Series was cited during or after the pull-over.
“We are relieved this crash did not result in a tragedy,” the department said. “This is an important reminder that life can change in an instant. It is the driver’s responsibility to drive safely and arrive safely.”
