, STAR Corporation, the exclusive distributor of BYD vehicles in the Philippines has announced that first stocks of its all-electric hatchback, the Dolphin EV have arrived. Priced at P 1.598 million, it undercuts all other EVs be it from China, Korea, or Japan.
Locally, the BYD Dolphin is available with one engine variant and that makes 95 horsepower (70 kW) and 180 Nm of torque. Power is then stored in a 44.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery enough for a maximum cruising range of about 405 kilometers.
The Dolphin (or EA1) sits on BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0 which fully integrates the Blade batteries. This allows a 0 to 50 km/h time in 3.9 seconds, rapid charging capabilities (30 to 80 percent state of charge in 30 minutes), and a torsional rigidity double that of other combustion-engine offerings. Couple this with its long wheelbase (2,700 mm) on a compact frame (4,070 mm in length) makes for a fun-to-drive urban runabout. Two colors are available: Gray with Orange Accents and Gray with Green Accents.
Features found in the BYD Dolphin include LED head- and taillights, heated outside rear view mirrors, a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and an NFC-based mobile key.
