Owners can look forward to improved charging capabilities, among other things.
Audi has released an over-the-air (OTA) update for the Q4 e-tron electric crossover, providing owners with new convenience and vehicle charging features.
The most significant change pertains to the charging capabilities. A new “preferred charging time” function gives the owner a charging window to top up the batteries during low-cost periods. Depending on your driving schedule, your Q4 will glean energy during off-peak hours, allowing you to recharge and save money simultaneously.
Other updates include a timer that makes AC charging more convenient than before. According to Audi, when the vehicle is preconditioning its batteries (with the departure timer), the energy required to heat the interior is directed to the car during charging. This is done through an external energy source like a wallbox or a public charger.

The new software also boasts a reworked thermal management system which improves consumption by monitoring the outside temperature and state of charge when conditioning the battery pack.
Compared to the old software, DC charging power has been boosted to 135 kW. Q4 e-tron owners can also specify a new battery protection feature. Audi says this holds the battery “in the ideal state of charge” by limiting it to 80%. While this is a valuable function, it may not appeal to those driving long distances. The maximum claimed range for the Q4 e-tron lineup is 265 miles.
Another handy update comes in the form of a Plug & Charge function. At specific charging points, the Q4 will automatically activate charging when the cable is plugged into the vehicle, with billing taken care of. General Motors has a similar setup available for its EV customers.

That's about it on the charging front, but a few more revisions are aimed at making the driver's life easier.
Owners can use the myAudi app route planner to map out a trip and send it to their vehicles for later use. Recent destinations are also now stored, making it easier to search for previously visited locations. Furthermore, the smartphone app can be used to locate the car in a crowded parking lot. Should you suffer a breakdown or minor collision, the driver can also use the myAudi app to contact roadside assistance.
Should you be involved in a bigger crash, you'll be pleased to know the Q4 e-tron and its Sportback sibling both earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.
This new software will be standard in all MY2023 derivatives, so the update is for all vehicles from the start of production until the 2022 model year.
