If you want the “ultimate combination of exceptional design and amazing brawn” in a car and have R2.7 million to spend, then the Carroll Shelby Signature Series Mustang is for you.
Three units of this new car are available in South Africa, all packing a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that puts out 597kW.
There are 50 Carroll Shelby Signature Series cars in total being produced, with three allocated to Shelby South Africa.
The local batch will be right-hand drive and available in a choice of convertible or fastback, and automatic or manual transmissions.
“The level of authenticity will be guaranteed by each car’s placement into the official Shelby Registry,” said the company.
The Carroll Shelby Signature Series is priced at R2,708,000. Pricing is subject to exchange rate fluctuations, and all modification work is done by the official Mod Shop in the Western Cape.
New additions
The Carroll Shelby Signature Series Mustang features several upgraded elements, including new aluminium fenders, one-piece forged monoblock wheels, and tuned MagneRide suspension.
“Making this all perform in harmony is the new Brembo brake system with 6-piston calipers on the front and 4-piston calipers on the rear.”
Extra cooling channels for the brakes have also been developed and tested by Shelby.
Under the hood is a 5.0-litre V8 engine with a custom Edelbrock supercharger strapped on – putting out “just over” 597kW.
“A Borla exhaust system with four custom exhaust tips delivers Shelby’s signature soundtrack – which is a recipe combining the V8’s deep burble contrasted by the supercharger’s higher tone.”
The interior of the car has also received upgrades, which include Shelby-branded door mats and door sill plates, and a cluster with Shelby gauges.
“Adding to the allure are branded caps for the radiator, coolant tank, and oil cap. Should the customer want to remove more weight from the car, he can do so by replacing the rear seat with a harness bar.”
