Cadillac Deville Models & History 1993
- The DeVille series lineup returned intact from the year previous, but America’s best-selling luxury car received several upgrades, including speed sensitive steering and speed sensitive suspension as standard equipment
- Speed sensitive steering varied the amount of steering effort required of the driver in proportion to the vehicle’s speed.
- The deVille’s power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering’s ratio was 17.6:1 with 2.97 turns required lock-to-lock. Speed sensitive suspension automatically selected from three settings comfort, normal, and firm to provide optimal ride and handling characteristics at all operating speeds.
- The 4.9-liter V-8 and 4T60-E electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive again was the deVilles power source.
- A new feature for 1993 was the Generation II CS144 alternator that delivered 140 amps of power. The CS144 incorporated a self-cooling design for optimal reliability.
- Final drive ratio for the Coupe DeVille and Sedan DeVille was 2.73:1.
- Exterior improvements included a revised grille for a bolder appearance, new blacked-out quarter window molding on the Sedan deVille/Touring Sedan, and formal cabriolet roof on the Coupe deVille.
- Two new exterior colors were offered, Dark Cherry and Bronze, upping the total numbers of clearcoat paint colors available to 14.
- Two new interior options were available in 1993, Beechwood leather seat color choice and a trunk convenience net.
- The deVille continued to offer a driver’s side airbag, solar control glass all-around, Pass-Key II anti-theft system and Twilight Sentinel headlamp system as standard fare.
- Remote keyless entry, traction control, and Astroroof remained on the optional equipment list.
- The Touring Sedan (deVille) featured the aforementioned speed sensitive steering and suspension systems as well as traction control as standard items.
- Outside, the Touring Sedan was distinguished by a grille-mounted wreath-and-crest emblem, front and rear body-color fascia. body-color door handles and chrome-plated bodyside door moldings with Touring Sedan” identification. Inside, Beechwood color leather was used, and the leather-trimmed steering wheel included a tilt feature and driver’s side airbag.
- The instrument panel and doors were trimmed with American Walnut wood inserts.
