After a run of only nine model years, Acura has smartly decided to remove the ILX sedan from its lineup, with the highly anticipated all-new Integra taking its place.
A YouTube video featuring two Acura dealer team members and shared by Motor1 suggested the end of the ILX, and the car’s demise after the 2022 model year has since been confirmed to Driving by Acura Canada.
This baby-TLX was the entry point into the Japanese luxury brand, and saw a very slow uptick in its popularity over time, despite the styling seeing some tinkering along the way.
Having driven the most current ILX, I can say it’s not so much a “bad” car as it is a victim of the declining sedan market. Throw in the hype of the return of a classic nameplate via the upcoming Integra, which also has four doors, and this was likely an easy decision for Acura to make.
In the U.S., pre-orders for the Integra start on March 10; as of the date of publishing, there’s no mention of the new car’s on-sale date on the Acura Canada website. (Well, there was this little blip, which was either an accident or a marketing ploy.)
But what are your thoughts on this bit of product planning? Will you miss the ILX, or have you already forgotten it?
