The new BMW M5 CS – selling for R3,822,356 – sold out in South Africa before it even arrived.
10 units of the powerful BMW were offered to “handpicked” buyers, and all were snapped up.
This is sad news for prospective buyers who had their eye on a new M5 CS, as no additional examples of the limited-edition BMW will be brought to the country.
As such, these motorists will have to look at what’s available for around R3.8 million from other premium manufacturers to get their fill.
BMW M5 CS specs
To see which car you are going to buy instead of the M5 CS, we must first take note of the benchmarks the BMW has set.
The BMW M5 CS is the most powerful M car currently on the roads, pushing 467kW and 750Nm out of a 4.4-litre, V8, twin-turbo petrol engine.
An eight-speed Sports transmission then sends power to all four wheels, which are all wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.
This combination pushes the CS from 0 to 100km/h in 3.0 seconds, and onto a 305km/h top speed.
Finishing the quarter-mile (402m) drag takes 11.1 seconds for the large four-door.
To make the flagship M5 stand out when stationary, it gets yellow laser-LED headlights, gold-bronze Y-spoke wheels, three exclusive exterior colours, an M Alcantara multifunction steering wheel, Merino leather upholstery with Mugello Red accents, and individual rear seats.
