The visual changes are subtle, but you'll definitely notice if the powertrain is massaged a little.
Early last month, CarBuzz spy photographers captured images of the facelifted BMW M4 Convertible, and now it's time to take a closer look at the M4 Coupe's LCI update. Roughly a year ago, the regular G20 BMW 3 Series was refreshed, and both the G82 M4 Coupe and G83 M4 Convertible will take on the subtly updated headlight design debuted on the luxury sedan. The taillights will also be refreshed, and the bumpers may be lightly massaged, but we're more interested in what will happen under the skin.
According to several reports, the base M4 will boost its output to Competition levels, producing more than the current 473 horsepower, opening the door for a more powerful M2.

We know that BMW is working on a hotter version of the M2, likely to be called the M2 CS, and this is expected to produce north of 500 hp. That kind of output would have the baby M car stepping on the toes of the big brother M4, so don't be surprised if the M3 and M4 facelift sees the loss of the base model, leaving only the Competition variant on the table. BMW did this with the X5 M and X6 M, so it's nothing new.
The new M3/M4 Competition may get a light power boost, but probably nothing too extreme. The S58 engine is intended to see out the Euro 7 emissions regulations, so BMW will want to keep something in reserve for the next couple of years before M cars must become electrified.
The M2 will likely get a power boost at some point, too, but a Competition model is not in the cards just yet.

According to a post from a reliable user on the Bimmerpost forum named ynguldyn, the M3 and M4 are set to get a power bump to 535 hp, but only with AWD. The same user claims that the updated M4 Coupe and Convertible will enter production in March 2024 (these should be revealed late in 2023 or early in 2024). As for the refreshed M3, that is claimed to start production in July 2024.
We may also have an M4 CS to look forward to, but it's still shrouded in secrecy for now. That said, we've seen test mules at the Nordschleife. Rumors suggest this will be produced from July 2024 to June 2025. Hopefully, Munich will confirm or deny some of these suggestions soon.
