New hype video describes BMW’s first M3 wagon as the next evolution with previously unseen skills
BMW M has given the world another look at its upcoming 2023 BMW M3 Touring, with the first high-performance M3 wagon making an appearance at the end of a new promotional video posted to YouTube this week.
Designed to celebrate the M division’s 50th anniversary and show off the multiple talents and configurations of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 portfolio, the ‘Iconic Pack’ video culminates with the narrator declaring something previously unseen comes along only once in a blue moon…
“And once in a blue moon, we witness the birth of a new evolution, combining skills as never seen before,” they say.
At this point the ‘pack’ of coupes and sedans split and the M3 Touring steams up the middle to the head of the group, still donning elaborate camouflage along with a QR code and a “bring it on” slogan down the side of the doors.
Going by the narrator’s description of the M3 Touring and its knack for “combining skills as never seen before”, it would be safe to assume the rabid wagon will be offered, perhaps exclusively, in top-spec all-wheel drive Competition xDrive guise.
If this is the case, the M3 Touring will serve up an Audi RS 4 Avant-baiting 375kW/650Nm punch and should be able to stop the clock from 0-100km/h in around 3.6 seconds thanks to its all-paw grip and quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.
For reference, the M3 sedan and M4 coupe complete the industry-standard sprint in 3.5sec, while the heavier M4 convertible does it in 3.7sec.
BMW is yet to lock in an official reveal date for its high-performance load-hauler but we do know it will debut this year and that BMW Australia has already secured its arrival Down Under.
