BMW is looking to hire skilled South Africans to join its IT Hub on an assignment basis where these individuals will “support the Hub via BMW-approved Temporary Employment Services Providers.”
The IT Hub is the fastest-growing business unit in the BMW Group and it aims to supply the local jobs market with 2,000 positions by 2023, reported BusinessTech.
The automaker’s IT division is focused on innovation topics and comprehensive solutions such as development and operations for SAP, Java, and Azure.
What you can expect
BMW is calling for Full Stack Developers and DevOps Specialists on Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to apply for its IT Hub positions, it said.
Technical skills that the manufacturer is looking for include:
- Microservices architecture
- Experience in data streaming
- Cloud expertise on Azure and/or AWS
- Backend development expertise in Java, C#, or Python
- Frontend development expertise in JavaScript and Angular/TypeScript
- SmartOperations including introducing AI patterns on various platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace
“Successful consultants will develop global solutions for the BMW Group in artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous driving, and other ground-breaking digitalisation fields,” said the company.
Anyone who is interested in applying for the job at BMW will need to submit a CV through this portal to the company’s website by 5 August 2022.
Following this, BMW will create a shortlist of applicants who will be notified of their successful application by 10 August.
The shortlist of applicants will then participate in a set of “talent days” taking place on the 27th and 28th of the month.
BMW in South Africa
BMW’s local headhunting operations are the latest in a long line of the company’s commitments to South Africa.
Currently, it’s building the popular X3 in the country for export to global markets, and it was recently one of the first major manufacturers to launch a long-term rental option in this market whereby individuals can rent a BMW or Mini vehicle for up four-and-a-half years without taking ownership of it.
The German automaker is also capitalising on the growing adoption rate for electric vehicles (EV) in South Africa as it launched two new battery-powered cars last week, the i4 M50 and iX3, and said that it is actively lobbying the government in an effort to increase EV production in the country.
