Every Rolls-Royce is special, but they aren’t all made equal. Customers with a bank balance as vast as their dreams can commission bespoke vehicles that match their exacting desires. A particularly expressive project has just been completed by the Goodwood factory – a car inspired by Earth.
Based upon a Rolls-Royce Wraith, the deep blue paint finish is symbolic of the water found on most of our planet’s surface. An intricate space-eye view painting of the United Arab Emirates details the bonnet, while a hand painted coachline also holds the Sun and the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
The interior focuses on Earth with Moccasin leather upholstery representative of sand and blue details reflecting rivers. A Piano Milori veneer presents a satellite image of Earth, photoflash technology has been used to rendered in the embroidery and the illuminated headliner reflects the solar system above us.
Michael Bryden, Lead Bespoke Designer said: “We’re used to clients bringing us grand visions for their Bespoke Commissions, but this provided a new perspective altogether. In our response to the brief, we’ve worked at both the ‘macro’ level, referencing the Sun and planets of the whole Solar System, and the much more personal ‘micro’ level, centring our view of the world on the place the customer calls home.”
Being based on a Wraith, power comes from a 6.6-litre V12 engine that produces 624bhp and 800Nm of torque – figures Rolls-Royce describes as adequate. While adopting a sporting profile, the Wraith is not a sports car. It blends its performance with utter opulence to form a cosseting means of fast travel.
This Rolls-Royce Wraith is destined for, you guessed it, a customer in the Middle East. It joins the many Rolls-Royce motor cars that have been commissioned over the years, including one that featured real gold in its paintwork.
