Kesas Highway will be implementing manual toll collection at the Awan Besar toll plaza as some toll lanes were damaged during the flash flood that happened on Monday (7-March-2022).
A spokesperson for Kesas Sdn Bhd told The Star that handheld readers would be handled by employees for the time being in a number of multiclass lanes. The spokesperson also assures the public that repairs are carried out on the toll systems.
The spokesperson also confirmed that only the systems in multiclass lanes were damaged but these lanes will remain open to traffic.
“We are rectifying the communications line for toll systems which were submerged during the flash flood.”
Meanwhile, the crew will continue carrying out inspection and recovery work at the toll plaza. Repair works started when the water overflowing from the nearby Sungai Kuyoh receded around 5.40 pm.
“RFID, SmartTag, TNG lanes were unaffected and are operating as normal.”
