New visual options are available for the Audi TT and Q3. The four-ringed brand has increased its personalization options with new body colors that stand out for their unique matte texture. Four unique hues that were previously unavailable on the coupé or SUV, but for which you should save your money.
The more options for customisation, the better. That has been the maxim of a huge number of firms, particularly premium brands, with whom customers have been discouraged from competing. However, some body colors, for example, have only been offered for the sportiest, most select, and unique models.
Worst of all, the cost of developing these paints is barely recouped.
The fact that BMW’s sportiest compacts now have over 70 “BMW Individual” paint options is proof enough. A similar result has occurred in Audi. The four-ringed brand has been considerably more restricted, and owners of the various models of the Audi TT Coupé, Q3 and RS Q3 range can choose from four exclusive Audi Sport colors created by Audi Design & Trim. Despite internal surveys indicating that three out of four German clients prefer the hues white, black, and silver gray, the German company tends to provide a dozen colors for each model.
Matt paints are available on the Audi Q3 Sportback and TT Coupé.
For the TT RS, the new matte colors “Python Yellow” and “Dew Silver” are available exclusively for the RS Q3, while “Daytona Grey” and Metallic Silver are available for the two-door sports car and the SUV, with the same matte finish.
The two models are built at Audi’s Györ plant in Hungary, eliminating the need to ship the bodies to a separate facility for the special painting process.
After the primer, putty, and paint comes the translucent matte layer, which contains unique silicate particles that create the matte finish, and adding an extra layer of just 50 thousandths of a millimeter, according to the corporation with the four rings.
Customers of these two models now have the choice of a customized finish that emphasizes their sportiness. They are currently only available for the Audi TT coupé and the small family SUV. Options that are likely to be provided, at the very least, in the Audi Q3, given that the roadster’s days are numbered, with production ending in 2022, putting an end to a true legend in the German brand.
