The power of music is not to be underestimated, as for thousands of years our species has used music to influence the mood of its listeners. Audi is hoping to raise spirits with a unique classical concert that can be streamed online.
Audi’s Press Shop is usually a hive of activity and noise with huge weights pressing down to form bodywork components for cars. However, the coronavirus pandemic has lead to the factory being silent as workers stay home. This space will again be filled with noise, but not of machinery. On 14 April at 7pm BST Audi’s classical concert will echo around the space.
Dr Sabine Maaßen, board member for Human Resources and Organisation at AUDI AG said: ‘In times of social distancing, music is balm for the soul more than ever. To be separated spatially, and at the same time to be united in experiencing a concert of this kind, reinforces the sense of community. I would like to thank the musicians warmly for making this event possible for our employees, customers and Audi fans’
A small group of musicians will sit between the presses without a stage, each a safe distance apart and only accompanied by the cameras. The star musicians will be playing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederick Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The concert makes up part of the #AudiTogether campaign that aims to support humanitarian causes in its home regions. Audi will be donating €5,000,000 (£4,401,000) as part of its own contribution.
You can watch the concert live at 7pm on 14 April via audi.com, Audi’s YouTube channel, Twitter or Facebook pages. The event promises to be as sonorous as Audi’s iconic R8 V10 advert.
