The Audi A6 plug-in hybrid is now available as an estate, called the A6 Avant 55 TFSI e.
The saloon was revealed online at the Geneva Motor Show, and the wagon version boasts the same 249bhp 2-litre four cylinder petrol engine, mated to a 141bhp electric motor integrated into the seven speed gearbox, offering a combined punch of 362bhp. It’s the same powertrain found in the plug-in hybrid variants of the Q5 and A7 Sportback.
The Avant is 0.1 of a second slower over 0-62mph than the saloon with a time of 5.7 seconds, but it does match the saloon’s pure electric range of 31 miles, which is possible up to speeds of 84mph.
Although no price has been announced yet, Audi’s S Line package comes as standard, as well as Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, privacy glass, sports suspension and sports seats. The A6 Avant PHEV has three drive modes which switch between electric, hybrid and petrol power, and Audi promises it takes 2.5 hours to fully charge the electric motor.
Customers can use the myAudi smartphone app to help locate over 140,000 public charging points across Europe.
As we mentioned, UK pricing has not been announced yet, but in Germany prices start from €68,850 (£60,100) for the saloon and €71,940 (£62,805) for the estate.
