The upcoming Audi A6 e-tron has been given the green light to go into production. The electric saloon will be built in the German brand’s Neckarsulm plant, on the assembly lines of the company’s most sporty vehicle, the Audi RS. A vehicle that will also have a special version for China, where the details for the next Audi A6 L e-tron have been released.
The Audi A6 L e-tron is a hybrid vehicle. It is the four-ringed brand’s future electric saloon, which will be manufactured in China for clients in the world’s largest Asian market. An appealing new generation saloon, whose design was formally advanced in mid-April to coincide with the Shanghai Auto Show 2021 celebrations.
The Audi A6 e-tron concept was unveiled at the Great Chinese Auto Show, a fascinating conceptual breakthrough of what would be the first electric production model, with a unique exterior that will resemble a five-door saloon in typical Sportback form.
Despite the fact that it will be a few years before it reaches the European market, and the future A6 L e-tron will do the same in China, a filter in the Far East has revealed the main characteristics of this vehicle that will increase Audi’s electrical line.
The Audi A6 L e-technical tron’s specs in detail
The forthcoming Audi A6 L e-tron, like the conventional body variation that will arrive in Europe, will be one of the vehicles created on the PPE platform of electric automobiles.
Some technological characteristics will be shared across the two variants, while the Asian’s trunk space of 550 liters will be unique. Internally referred to as the “Audi E6L,” the company intends to sell three variants, one entry and two “major” versions.
The Chinese have also revealed some of the keys to the specs, albeit not showing the power levels. The two net capacities -and usable capacities -of the lithium ion battery -provided by CATL- that will be housed between the axles will be 83 and 100 kW, respectively. The stats are the same as the Q6 e-tron, which we gave you an exclusive preview of a few weeks ago. The first will be powered by a single rear electric motor and have a range of up to 550 kilometers.
The second will be available with a single electric motor, 600 kilometers of range, and the same autonomy as the first, but with two electric motors and four-wheel drive.
Filtration is also responsible for the recharge capacity (up to 80% in less than 25 minutes) and the benefits listed above, as well as a drag coefficient of just 0.318x. They’ve even divulged the Audi A6 L e-predicted tron’s average yearly output, which is expected to be about 150,000 units. Without a question, a well-balanced lineup to compete with the upcoming BMW i5, which is set to arrive in the middle of the decade.
