The four-ringed brand was the first among the Premium brands to enter the segment of crossover variations of its cars. The A6 Allroad was the first to market, and the A4 Allroad quattro followed suit. For a new generation, a model that hangs on a thread.
The massive investment that the four-ringed brand is making in the development of electric vehicles necessitates a reorganization of the product line. Equipment and low-demand variants have already been eliminated, but this is insufficient; the next stage is to target individual models. The Audi A4 allroad quattro is one of those on a knife’s edge.
By producing crossover variations of its family vehicles, the German manufacturer pioneered Premium automobiles.
The enormous success of the first generation of the A6 Allroad, which was dynamically substantially different from subsequent generations, inspired Audi to expand its offering to the next lower range with the introduction of the A4 Allroad. Although the first generation’s sales were similarly on a knife’s edge, it was given one more chance knowing that it would not be able to withstand the Q5’s assault, therefore the current one is in a more than tricky scenario.
Audi recognizes the importance of family members in Central Europe, and with a restricted offer but with quattro all-wheel drive, the option of this model with greater ground clearance does not quite persuade and tilt the balance in its favor. Even more so than the new Q5 Sportback, when we consider that clients prefer considerably before deciding for the Q5.
We know that the future of the A4 allroad quattro is so bleak that it hangs on a thread, and that its future is being discussed, thanks to poor sales numbers and the necessary investment for the electric models. Despite the fact that the star brand has entered the battle with the C-Class All-Terrain, internal reports for this model forecast a more than bitter end, knowing that few would notice the “crossoverized” A4 disappearing from the market.
Except for surprise, the A4 Allroad will leave the market in little over a year and a half, despite the fact that its future is not related to that of Mercedes, a vehicle that is not completely understood given the continued growth of SUVs and that its older brother has not had the success that was expected.
The new A4 Avant has already begun development and will be unveiled towards the end of 2023. A member of the family who is well-liked in virtually all European markets and whose finances balance with those of Ingolstadt.
