Chinese government documentation has revealed details of another new SUV coming from GWM sub-brand Haval, this time a larger SUV than the H6 currently on sale in Australia, and one focused on plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The yet-to-be-released SUV, currently being referred to as the GWM Haval B07 by Chinese media (such as Car News China) and in the car brand’s teasers, is a mid-large SUV that appears to stay within the current Haval design language, albeit with a changed grille to accommodate less need for air intake, as well as drop-down DRLs from the headlights.
It’s expected the SUV will be renamed the Haval Xiaolong MAX upon its eventual reveal and launch later this year.
Though it’s already been teased in China with an image and the phrase ‘new energy, new sequence, new members’, the details of the SUV have only just been made available via the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Slightly larger than the Haval H6 in its dimensions, the B07 is 4771mm long, 1895mm tall, and 1725mm wide with a wheelbase of 2800mm.
It’ll run a hybrid-assisted 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine either with a turbocharger (making 113kW) or without (for 85kW), with a battery of either 9.41kWh or 19.27kWh allowing for electric-only driving ranges of 44km and 86km respectively.
More key information about the B07 is expected to come as the vehicle’s launch approaches, by which time it should become more apparent if it’s destined for Australia.
Locally, line-ups from Chinese brands like GWM’s Haval end up much smaller than their home market, where dozens of SUV models come from the same marque, so it’s unclear if the slightly-larger B07 would work alongside the H6.
CarsGuide has contacted GWM Haval Australia, but a local spokesperson was unable to comment on future product at this stage.
