PETALING JAYA: Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Peugeot in Malaysia, officially launched the all-new Peugeot 5008 seven-seater SUV priced at RM173,888 (on-the-road without insurance).
The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV breaks away from its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) predecessor and has now transitioned into a seven-seater sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the C-segment.
The new 5008 SUV utilizes the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) as found in the 308 and 3008 SUV.
As such, it features the inline 4, 1.6 litre Twin Scroll Turbo High Pressure (THP) petrol engine with direct injection, 16 valve, variable valve timing (VVT) which produces 167PS at 6,000rpm. It is mated to the six-speed auto transmission with Quickshift technology with a maximum torque of 240Nm from 1,400rpm.
The overall size of the vehicle is now at 4,641mm long and 1,844mm wide, making the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV 11cm longer than its predecessor.
Design-wise, there is the expressive front-end design with the Lion brand’s marque; the advanced full LED headlamps with sequential scrolling indicators give it a piercing feline gaze whether in day or night, and its striking form is accentuated by a chrome insert on the front wings that extend to the headlights, in a nod to Peugeot’s concept car – the HX1.
The new Peugeot 5008 SUV is also fitted with 18-inch alloy Los Angeles wheels with two-tone diamond finish, and stainless steel roof and prominent black wheel arches.
At the rear, the raised body line and chromed roof arc trim finishes elegantly at the quarter panel, giving off a more aerodynamic design profile that is further complemented by Peugeot’s signature three-claw LED rear lights.
An extra-wide tailgate and low boot sill at 676mm also hints at just how spacious the boot is at 1,060 litres with the 5-seat configuration and 2,042 litres with the second row folded flat.
Incidentally, the front passenger seat is also foldable for long loads.
The interior is decked in leather for all seven seats and the futuristic-looking Peugeot i-Cockpit – the French marque’s very own intuitive interior architecture receives an update on the 5008 SUV, which puts the driver at centre stage.
It has an unobtrusive and completely redesigned compact steering wheel for greater character, an 8-inch Multifunction Colour touchscreen with USB, Bluetooth, Apple Carplay, Andriod Auto, Mirrorlink, voice recognition and Arkamys 3D sound staging.
There is also a 12.3-inch high-resolution Digital Head-Up Cluster Display that shows the speedometer, odometer, and trip-computer among others.
Further embellishing the dashboard are central satin chrome ‘Toggle Switches’ for quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions: audio, air-conditioning, assistance settings, telephone, apps, and hazard warning lights.
Feature-wise, the new 5008 has full LED headlights and tail lights, LED front fog lights, rear fog lights, sensor activated headlights and wipers, front and rear parking sensor and a motorized smart hands-free tailgate.
There is an abundance of safety features such as six airbags, 180 degree reverse camera, lane departure warning, tyre pressure sensor, hill assist descent control (HADC), hill start assist, electronic stability program (ESP), electronic brake distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA), anti-skid regulation (ASR), dynamic stability control, driver attention alert, tyre pressure sensor and three ISOFIX points.

The new 5008 SUV is available in four colours: Emerald Green, Amazonite Grey, Nera Black and Pearl White and comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty together with 24-hours Peugeot Assistance service and complimentary access to SkyLounge by Naza at Subang Skypark.
