The Everest Sport has a 2.0L Single Turbo diesel engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 170 PS @ 3,500 rpm and 405 Nm @ 1,750 – 2,000 rpm. It offers 4 drive modes i.e. Normal, Eco, Tow / Haul and Slippery, and is the only 2-wheel-drive variant in the range.

Both the next-generation Everest Trend and Everest Titanium meanwhile, are powered by the 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine that is mated to Ford’s efficient 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. This combo delivers 210 PS @ 3,500 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,750 – 2,000 rpm to the 4-wheel-drive system. The part-time 4×4 electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system has an e-Locking Rear Differential and 6 selectable drive modes i.e. Normal, Eco, Tow / Haul, Slippery, Mud / Ruts and Sand.

The Sport and Trend variants get LED headlamps while the range-topping Titanium features Ford’s latest Matrix LED headlamps with glare-free high beam to provide maximum visibility without dazzling other road users. The Matrix headlamps also offer dynamic and static bending capability and speed-dependent lighting, which can adjust the length of the light beam according to the vehicle’s speed. LED front and rear fog lamps and LED stop lamps come standard across the entire range.

The next-generation Everest sees a growth in wheelbase length by 50 mm. Likewise, the track has also increased by 50 mm. These changes combine to provide better on-road control and off-road articulation as well as improved approach and departure angles. Further tweaks to the damper settings allow for more fun and control in the Everest’s ride, both on- and off-road. The wider track and longer wheelbase further enabled designers to create a more progressive and muscular appearance.

The designers have also increased the angle of the rear glass and pillar as well as the size of the rear window to allow more light into the 3rd row. Further, the next-gen Everest Titanium is equipped with a new dual panel panoramic sunroof and hands-free powered liftgate. The cargo area is designed with a small lip, known as the “apple catcher” valley, to stop items from falling out of the back when the liftgate is opened. There is also an underfloor storage space that helps keep the rear of the Everest organised.

For the interior, the designers have increased the soundproofing for a quieter cabin. The designers also put a lot of thought into the function and feel of the interior, taking inspiration from modern homes and bringing in plush materials, premium finishes and ambient lighting in areas where the occupants can appreciate them the best. The sense of spaciousness is also amplified by the extra elbow, leg and shoulder room, a full-width instrument panel, and easy access to the 3rd row. Ford prioritised flexible seating in the next-gen Everest, with powered folding seats in the Titanium variant. Moreover, the 2nd and 3rd row seats are designed to fold flat for better cargo carrying capability. There are also 10 cup holders located at the centre console, armrest, dash-mounted ‘pop out’ holders and in the rear.

Other conveniences include an electronic parking brake (with an e-Shifter in the Titanium), 3 12V sockets, and premium black leather seats with 8-way power adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger. Additionally, the Titanium has a 230V AC power outlet capable of delivering 400 W (up from 150 W).

The technology of convenience has also been incorporated, with the latest connectivity features available in the Everest mainly via the SYNC 4A infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system uses a 12″ touchscreen in portrait orientation in the Titanium spec, and 10.1″ in the Sport and Trend. The Titanium is also fitted with a 360-degree camera with split-view display while the Trend and Sport are equipped with reverse cameras in addition to front and rear sensors. The Everest also come with 8″ or 12″ digital instrument panels as replacement for analogue clusters, 4 USB charging ports (one of which is windscreen-mounted) and a wireless Qi charger. For safety, the Everest is kitted with 7 airbags (driver and front passenger, dual seat side, dual side curtains that cover all three rows and driver’s knee), an underbody protection bash, ISOFIX points, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control (ESC) with traction control, emergency brake assist (EBA), hill descent control, hill launch assist, roll-over mitigation and adaptive load control.

For driver assistance features, the Everest Sport and Trend come equipped with emergency stop signal, turn assist, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera. Meanwhile, the Everest Titanium adds on a range of advanced driver assistance systems including blind spot information system (BLIS), lane departure warning & assist (LDW), high beam assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Other enhanced safety include:

  • New: Adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering is able to detect lane markings and help keep the vehicle centred in the lane.
  • New: Active Park Assist 2.0 allows next-gen Everest to help drivers into parallel or perpendicular spots with the press of a button. With the aid of ultrasonic sensors, the system takes care of the steering, gearshifts, acceleration and braking to navigate into tight parking spots. It will also help steer the vehicle out of a parallel parking spot.
  • New: Evasive steer assist helps drivers avoid potential forward collisions by helping drivers steer with less effort when a collision cannot be avoided by braking alone.
  • New: Reverse brake assist helps drivers to reverse into parking spots and other tight spaces by providing audible and visual warnings. It can detect a vehicle crossing or a cyclist or pedestrian behind the vehicle too. The system can even bring the Everest to a complete stop if the driver doesn’t react in time.
  • New: Rear cross-traffic alert warns of traffic approaching from the sides when the vehicle is in reverse, which helps when backing out of a driveway or parking spot.
  • Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, dynamic brake support and pre-collision assist. Besides preventing or reducing the severity of a collision with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist directly in front of the vehicle, the pre-collision assist has been enhanced to provide emergency braking support at an intersection.
