Set to debut in 2024, the upcoming Muscle car will in a radical new move feature a hybrid for the very first time
Ford is all geared up and has commenced works on the next-generation Mustang. Mustang is the brand’s famous offering and one of the best selling and most loved cars all over the world. What makes the Mustang special is a super impressive combination of performance and long-distance travel capabilities.
Currently, the sixth-generation S550, Ford Mustang is available in the market and will be soon replaced by the next-gen model. Here is everything you need to know about this upcoming seventh-gen Ford Mustang.
For starters, the new Ford Mustang is expected to retain the previous generation’s characteristics in addition to a number of updates that will make it even better.
Internally known as the S650, the seventh-gen Mustang will be sold along with a new petrol-electric powertrain centred around its trademark petrol V8 engine.
For the very first time in its six decades of existence, we may also see a new hybrid powertrain being offered with the new Mustang
Having said this, the S650 is expected to retain its 5.0-litre naturally aspirated Coyote V8, while we may also see a new hybrid powertrain with dual electric motors will help to curtail and reduce the emissions. The hybrid versions of this muscle car can be operated in dynamic hybrid as well as independent EV modes.
The seventh generation will be launched in the international market somewhere in 2024. Time will tell if it makes it to India via the CBU route
This new muscle car is expected to go on sale in 2024
Similar to what we’ve seen in the conventional mild-hybrids, the motors will be rotationally coupled to the engine and derive power from an integrated starter generator which would be powered by the V8’s crankshaft. It is unclear if this powertrain will return in conjunction with this hybrid system but going with the patent the brand applied for in 2017, we might see it in V-shaped engines.
Just like always, the Mustang will offer a loud and a sporty exhaust note
Ford recently announced that it has ceased manufacturing operations in India and will now be focusing on selling cars brought into the country via the CBU route.
The brand has not yet introduced the previous generation Mustang and it will be clear in the future whether the S650 will enter the Indian market or not.
