A very special Jaguar E-Type is to go up for auction at Silverstone Auctions on 27th March 2021. This 3.8-litre chassis number 60 is expected to fetch anywhere between £95,000 and £115,000 when it goes under the hammer next month.
To many, the Jaguar E-Type is one of the, of not the, iconic classic car. Those looks are recognisable the world over, and many believe this, the Series 1, to be the purest of all.
And, as luck would have it, this chassis number 60 is up for sale on the Jaguar E-Type's 60th anniversary.
It's a 1961 Series 1, right-hand drive, flat-floor, fixed-head Coupe, finished in Opalescent Gunmetal over a red leather interior. It's also an early flat floor example, one of the first 175 Coupes built before the recessed footwells were adopted and one of just 1,559 right-hand drive, 3.8 Coupes constructed in total.
Or, if you fancy getting your hands dirty, there's also the chance to buy the 1964 4.2 litre Series 1 Jaguar E-type above, which suffered a crash at Snetterton when it was just three months old and had covered just 2805 miles.
Some repairs were carried out at the time, but it was never finished. It's expected to command something like £70,000-£90,000.
Completing a trio of special Jaguar E-Types at the 27th March Silverstone auction is the above 1965 4.2 Series 1 Roadster.
It was once owned by actor Nigel Havers and is believed to be the original engine, gearbox and even colour, making it a very special car indeed. You'll need something like £60,000-£70,000 to drive it home.
