The EV market has been inundated with new offerings lately. Most major car manufacturers are investing billions in their EV manufacturing as they gear up to replace old gas-powered lineups with more eco-friendly EVs.
Among them, the 2023 Genesis GV60 is a brand-new luxury entry into the EV market. Genesis is Hyundai’s upscale brand, meaning that the GV60 is basically a luxury version of the Ioniq 5. One of its main competitors, the Audi e-tron, is Audi’s first electric EV SUV. So, how does the GV60 measure up to the e-tron? Here are three reasons to buy the GV60 instead of the e-tron.

Before the $7,500 tax credit, the GV60 starts at $58,890 for the Advanced AWD model and $67,890 for the Performance AWD model. The Genesis GV60 is available in the United States, but only in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.
According to Top Electric SUV, Genesis is establishing independent dealerships in the U.S.; the first one became operational on March 29, 2022, in Lafayette, Louisiana. After opening the first showroom, Genesis said that six additional locations are currently being built, along with another 20 that are just beginning to be planned.
On the other hand, the Audi e-tron starts a little cheaper at $52,700, but with options, it can go as high as $87,400. With the less-than-stellar overall rating from Consumer Reports, the GV60 is the better option for the money.
2. The GV60 has a better driving range
The Genesis GV60 can go 248 miles between charges. It features an 800-volt electric architecture for lightning-fast refueling at public stations and an 11-kW onboard charger for quicker fill-ups at home. A 77.4 kWh battery pack is standard in the GV60. It gets 314 hp in the Advanced trim or 429 hp with the Performance trim.
A Consumer Reports review states that one of the cool features of the GV60 is that if your charger isn’t working, there is an audible alert that can be heard outside of the car. Also, the GV60 has a feature called vehicle-to-load, or V2L, which allows you to plug in some household electrics and appliances to run them, a useful feature in case of a power outage or when traveling.
The Audi e-tron only gets 222 miles between charges, which is less range than many less expensive EVs. Also, the 95-kWh battery can take a while to charge on a 240-volt charger. The e-tron’s electric drive puts out 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque, and it gets 78 MPGe.
3. The Genesis GV60 has a better basic warranty
The Genesis GV60 comes with a basic five-year/60,000-mile warranty. It also comes with an impressive 10-year/100,000-mile drivetrain warranty. You also get a three-year/36,000-mile maintenance package.
Alternatively, the Audi e-tron only comes with a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a four-year/50,000-mile drivetrain warranty. Also, you only get a one-year/10,000-mile maintenance package.
The EV market is hot right now, and manufacturers are racing to develop the newest and best EV to remain competitive. Tesla has been the undisputed EV champ for years, but Hyundai is gaining momentum with the GV60 and the Ioniq 5.
Also, Ford is quickly gaining momentum in the EV sector with offerings like the Mustang Mach-E SUV and F-150 Lightning pickup truck, both of which are currently sold out. Who will come out on top? For now, it looks like Hyundai is leading the pack in its class.
