The new Cayenne Coupe has ditched one of its V6s in favor of a larger V8, and nobody is complaining.
The Cayenne Coupe was a natural extension of the Porsche Cayenne range when it first showed its face in 2019, giving buyers an even more prestigious alternative to the BMW X6 coupe SUV. For the 2024 model year, the Cayenne Coupe has been comprehensively updated with more powerful engines, some subtle styling changes, and a much more tech-heavy interior that draws some inspiration from the Taycan. Being a Porsche, even the base Cayenne Coupe is pretty quick with its 348-horsepower turbocharged V6, but enthusiasts will welcome the replacement of the older V6 in the Cayenne S Coupe with a potent V8. If you actually wanted a Cayman or 911 but have been compelled to relent to the needs of a small family, the Cayenne Coupe is a fine solution to that conundrum.

When Is The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Coming Out?
Set to be coming out alongside the regular Cayenne, the release date for the Porsche Cayenne Coupe in the USA is in the summer of 2023.
2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Price And Competition
There is a price premium for the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe which begins at $84,300: that's $5,100 more than the boxier Cayenne SUV. The cost of this SUV rises to $102,100 for the Cayenne S, nearly $7k more than the previous Cayenne S Coupe. Then again, the new one does have a V8 in place of the previous V6.
Reviewed separately, Porsche also sells a Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe.
Rivals for the Cayenne Coupe include the BMW X6 – one of the original architects of the coupe SUV craze – which starts at an MSRP of $73,900. The Bimmer is more powerful despite the fact that it’s over $10k cheaper. Another rival that provides more value than the Porsche is the Audi Q8 that begins at $72,800.

New Porsche Cayenne Coupe Exterior And Colors
With its sportier sloping roofline and a raft of styling updates for 2024, the exterior of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe holds much appeal. In front, there is a tauter hood design that flows into restyled HD Matrix Design LED headlights, which incorporate new daytime running lamps with smart-looking horizontal bars.
Not much has changed along the side of the body, but there is a new range of wheel designs that start at 20 inches and grow larger from there. If you look more closely, you can also spot newly styled fenders. Round back, the Cayenne Coupe has a new rear fascia with an integrated license plate holder and three-dimensionally designed taillights. The S variant has quad-exit exhaust outlets to differentiate it from the base model, and there's a subtle spoiler above the rear window, along with another one lower down on the tailgate.
The eerie blueish glow of the new headlights contrasts nicely with the new Arctic Grey paintwork seen here, one of three new colors for the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Montego Blue and Algarve Blue metallics are also new, but the full list of colors will be much longer.
A Lightweight Sports Package that saves 72 pounds will be available for the Cayenne Coupe.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Dimensions
The dimensions for the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe SUV aren’t radically different since this is a facelift. It has a length of 194 inches (194.1 for the S model) and a 114-inch wheelbase, while the height is 66.1 inches. The width works out to 78.1 inches when the mirrors are folded.
The curb weight is 4,740 pounds for the base model, but with its new V8, the Cayenne S Coupe is even heavier at 4,941 lbs.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe Engine And Performance
Both non-hybrid Porsche Cayenne Coupe models have an uprated engine. In the case of the S, it's an entirely different engine that marks an interesting move in this era of downsizing, with the 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 replacing the previous 2.9-liter V6. It has impressive specs of 468 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, enough to send the all-wheel-drive Porsche from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. On summer tires, the top speed is 169 mph.
The base Cayenne Coupe has a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 making 348 hp and 368 lb-ft, up by 13 hp and 36 lb-ft, enabling a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. The top speed here drops to 154 mph, although that's still a lot faster than anyone will be going on public roads.
Porsche's eight-speed automatic transmission remains in place, but what has changed is the way the Cayenne Coupe drives. The steel spring suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) now has two-valve technology for a separation of the rebound and compression stages. The manufacturer claims improvements in low-speed comfort and handling, while pitch and roll characteristics are minimized as well. We expect the standard suspension to be comfortable enough for daily use while also retaining the Cayenne Coupe's reputation for agile cornering, but customers can also opt for an optional adaptive air suspension if they wish.

Gas Mileage
Until the 2024 EPA gas mileage figures are published, we can only assume what the efficiency of the new Cayenne Coupe will be based on the pre-facelift model. With the base V6, we don't expect much change from the figures of 17/22/19 mpg city/highway/combined, but the picture will be quite different for the new Cayenne S Coupe in light of it having a larger V8. The 2023 Cayenne GTS returns 17 mpg combined, which is in line with what we expect from the newer Cayenne S Coupe.
A 23.7-gallon gas tank will realize a range of roughly between 400 and 450 miles if the above estimates are accurate.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Interior And Cargo
It's in the interior of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe that we can see the greatest differences between this and the 2023 model. The layout is based on the Porsche Driver Experience concept introduced on the Taycan electric sedan, whereby key driver controls are easily accessible.
Dotted on, or in close proximity to, the steering wheel are controls for the various driver-assistance features, while the gear shift lever is now a stubbier unit moved high up on the dashboard, freeing up additional storage space in the center console lower down.
This is a more digital Cayenne Coupe cockpit than ever before, since there is a curved 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface, and a newly available 10.9-inch touchscreen ahead of the front passenger to make shotgun trips a little more entertaining. This optional display has a layer that prevents it from being seen by the driver, thereby reducing the possibility of it being distracting. Not every feature is manipulated by touchscreens inside the Cayenne Coupe, though, as there are still physical toggle switches and a haptic volume knob.

Many of the driver-assistance systems have been optimized, such as the available adaptive cruise control with an evasion assistant that can help the driver avoid obstacles at speeds of between 31 and 93 mph. Turn Assist monitors oncoming traffic when executing a left-hand turn at up to 6 mph, and can stop the Cayenne Coupe if necessary. Another option is Porsche InnoDrive with Active Lane Keep and Intersection Assist, both of which are able to provide increased assistance whether on the highway or in a traffic jam.
The usual array of comfort and convenience features will apply, so expect dual-zone climate control and the availability of fully electrically adjustable seats in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Materials and colors haven’t been specified, but we know that Porsche typically offers some flashy colors and varying degrees of leathers to choose from.
Cargo space in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is 20.9 cubic feet behind the second row, down on the normal Cayenne's 27.2. If the rear seats are folded, total cargo space measures 53 cubic feet. The 2+2 seating layout does limit practicality to an extent, however.
