The plugin hybrid crossover has 288 horsepower and 32 miles of all-electric range.
Dodge has introduced the Hornet R/T plug-in hybrid – the brand's first-ever electrified model – adding the new trim for the 2024 model year.
Under the hood, the Hornet R/T combines a 1.3-liter turbocharged inline-four engine powering the front wheels with an electric motor propelling the rear wheels. Combined, the setup makes 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, sent to the axles exclusively through a six-speed Aisin automatic gearbox. Its electrified powertrain features a 15.5-kWh battery that provides the Hornet R/T with up to 32 miles of electric driving range – on par with its platform twin, the Alfa Romeo Tonale.

The plug-in hybrid Dodge crossover delivers an EPA-rated 77 MPGe and an impressive total driving range of up to 360 miles from a full battery charge and tank of gas.
The Hornet R/T's rear-mounted electric motor delivers up to 120 hp, supported by a refrigerant gas cooling circuit. The hybrid system features a 7.4-kW charging module, allowing the battery to be fully recharged from a Level 2 charger in approximately 2.5 hours.
The electric motor delivers an additional power boost through the PowerShot feature, providing an extra 30 hp when needed. This enables the Hornet R/T to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, outpacing the gasoline-fed Hornet GT by 0.9 seconds.

The Dodge Hornet R/T is available in two trim levels, starting with the base R/T at $40,935, while the higher R/T Plus sells for $45,935 (excluding destination charges) – exceeding the previously leaked prices. The R/T Plus adds luxurious features such as eight-way power adjustments for the front passenger seat, full leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, a hands-free power tailgate, and a Harman Kardon audio system.
Dodge has confirmed that the Hornet R/T can be tuned by the automaker's Direct Connection and Power Brokers program.
The R/T joins the current pure ICE-powered GT and GT Plus trims – both will carry on to the next model year with retained pricing. In contrast, the Hornet's Alfa Romeo counterpart will only be sold as a hybrid in North America.
