Updated RS 6 adopts styling tweaks applied to regular Audi A6, but with a sportier bent
Just a fortnight after the reveal of the facelifted Audi A6 and A7, the updated 2024 Audi RS 6 Avant has been spotted testing in Germany brandishing a similar suite of cosmetic touches.
Caught wearing attention-grabbing camouflage, Audi’s high-performance family hauler will feature a new front and rear fascia and redesigned headlights and tail-lights.
There are suggestions this particular car could be the flagship RS 6 Avant Performance, based on the engineering development mule’s undisguised alloy wheels (taken straight from the current model) and the presence of a roll cage.
For reference, the Performance variant adds 22kW/50Nm to the standard 441kW/800Nm outputs from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
It also elevates top speed to 280km/h, loses 8kg of sound deadening, comes with high-performance rubber and scores a self-locking centre differential.
Major updates to the powertrain or chassis set-up are not anticipated as part of the mid-life update for the Audi RS 6.
As well as the revised styling, most of the changes are expected to be found with cabin and equipment upgrades.
Audi Australia has already confirmed production of the updated A6 and A7 will start next month ahead of the first examples arriving in the final quarter.
This suggests the RS performance versions won’t arrive until the first half of next year.
The most aggressive members of Audi’s RS line-up, the RS 6 Avant and its RS 7 counterpart are currently enjoying some clear air as both the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E 63 are between generations.
