2023 Peugeot 308 price and specs

Peugeot Australia has now published official pricing for the entire 308 hatchback and wagon range.

UPDATE, 30/03/2023 – Peugeot Australia has announced pricing for the new GT Sport Plug-In Hybrid flagship. We’ve updated this article and brought it forward.

The range starts at $43,990 before on-road costs for the GT hatchback, and tops out at $64,990 before on-roads for the GT Sport Plug-In Hybrid hatch.

The latter is cheaper than previously published indicative pricing of $66,990 before on-road costs.

The PHEV arrives in the first half of 2023, while petrol models arrived here in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The pricing makes the new 308 a more premium proposition, with even the base model costing over $10,000 more than the entry-level Allure hatch found in the previous range.

The new base model, however, packs more premium features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as standard matrix LED headlights.

Drivetrains

The 2023 Peugeot 308 is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine producing 96kW of power and 230Nm of torque, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The plug-in hybrid GT Sport features a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with 132kW of power paired with an 81kW electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Total system outputs are 165kW and 360Nm.

All 308s are front-wheel drive.

Petrol hatches have a claimed 0-100km/h time of 9.7 seconds, with the wagon taking 9.9 seconds and the PHEV taking 7.5 seconds.

Efficiency

The entire 2023 Peugeot 308 petrol range has a combined fuel economy figure of 5.3L/100km, while the plug-in hybrid has a combined claim of 1.3L/100km.

The PHEV has up to 59km of electric range on the stricter WLTP cycle.

All petrol models have a 52L fuel tank and require a minimum of 95 RON premium unleaded. The PHEV has a smaller 40L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2023 Peugeot 308 hatchback measures 4367mm long, 1852mm wide (2062mm including the mirrors) and 1465mm tall on a 2675mm wheelbase.

It has 412L of cargo space, or 361L in the plug-in hybrid.

The 2023 Peugeot 308 wagon measures 4636mm long, 1852mm wide (2062mm including the mirrors) and 1442mm tall on a 2735mm wheelbase.

It has 608L of boot space, expanding to 1634L with the rear seats folded.

All models have only a tyre repair kit.

The petrol hatches have braked and unbraked towing capacity of 1400kg and 680kg, respectively. The wagon’s unbraked capacity is slightly higher at 710kg, while the PHEV is rated to tow the most with figures of 1500kg and 750kg, respectively.

Tare weight is 1258kg in the petrol hatches, 1314kg in the wagon, and 1611kg in the PHEV.

Servicing and Warranty

Peugeot backs its cars in Australia with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, with the PHEV’s battery backed by an eight-year/160,000km with a 70 per cent load capacity.

Logbook servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km.

The company also offers a three- and five-year servicing plan for the petrol 308 range priced at $1000 and $1800, respectively.

Safety

The Peugeot 308 has a four-star ANCAP safety rating based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP.

It received a score of 79 per cent for adult occupant protection, 86 per cent for child occupant protection, 68 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 82 per cent for safety assist.
