A long-range version of the 2023 MG ZS EV electric car is coming to Australia soon, with reports flagging early quarter two as the expected arrival timing for the small electric SUV.
While the standard MG ZS EV has a claimed electric driving range of 320km under WLTP testing thanks to its 50.3kWh battery, the Long Range gets a 72.6kWh battery according to the UK specifications, and a 440km WLTP driving range.
According to international specifications, the long-range version of the ZS EV has an output of 115kW and 280Nm of torque for its motor, mounted to the front axle.
Both variants of the MG ZS EV currently on sale in Australia have a 130kW output from the front axle motor, making them the most powerful of the ZS range.
Expect the long-range version of the electric SUV to be more expensive than the two standard-range variants, which come in at $44,990 before on-road costs for the Excite, and $48,990 for the Essence. Both prices will change state-by-state as MG removed its national drive-away pricing earlier this year.
While the ZS EV Long Range is almost guaranteed to be offered in top-spec Essence, likely starting from around $53,000-$54,000, it’s not certain if it will be available in Excite spec.
MG will debut the Long Range alongside the new MG4 at the Fully Charged Live event – an electric car and renewable energy show hosted by Red Dwarf actor Robert Llewellyn – in Sydney over the weekend of March 11 and 12.
MG Motor Australia CEO Peter Ciao says the new models will put “customer’s priorities at the centre”.
“”We listened to our customer’s feedback and have fast tracked the arrival of our long range ZS EV… to Australia. This provides more peace of mind in terms of minimising range anxiety and matches our pursuit of driving.”
