Genesis has revealed ballpark pricing and specification for its incoming fully electric GV70 Electrified mid-size SUV.
The GV70 is paired with the G80 large sedan on the same platform utilising powerful 800-volt electric architecture inherited from the smaller GV60’s exclusively electric e-GMP underpinnings.
This means, despite sharing a platform with combustion-engined variants, the GV70 Electrified can charge its 77.4kWh battery from 10-80 per cent in under 20 minutes on a 350kW charger. It is said to travel over 450km on a full charge, but the final number is yet to be confirmed.
The GV70 electrified will only be available in a single high-spec variant and only with all-wheel drive, producing a peak of 360kW/700Nm under ‘boost mode’ which can be activated for up to 10 seconds at a time. It is also capable of two-way V2L charging via its European Type 2 standard charging port and has a full-size household power outlet located in the boot.
The price is yet to be confirmed, but Genesis has given an indicative price-range between $105,000-$115,000, a leap above the top-spec combustion 3.5T AWD ($83,276 before on-road costs) but undercutting luxury segment EV rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQC (from $124,300 before on-road costs), Audi e-Tron (from $139,900), and Jaguar I-Pace (from $137,832).
Standard features will include leather interior trim with heated and ventilated front seats, electrical adjust for the driver and front passenger, heated outboard rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital dash and 14.5-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 16-speaker 1050W premium audio system, and keyless entry with push-start ignition. It will also inherit the full active safety suite from the rest of the GV70 range.
From the exterior the only difference between the Electrified model and combustion variants is the subtle, blanked-out grille and unique 20-inch alloy wheels. Genesis Australia was not able to give the GV70 Electrified a local suspension tune, but has selected a combination available from its global factory which is said to be best suited to our roads.
It was also designed with ‘minimal compromise’ when it comes to its electrification, meaning minimal impact to boot and cabin space. Stay tuned for the full figures when the model launches.
