Flat dashboard top hints at iDrive 8. Orange seats add to the cool factor.
Think M3 Competition, but with space for many more things…
Once again, BMW has teased us with the upcoming 2023 BMW M3 Touring, and we have a little more information on the exciting new M car for you, your family and your dogs…
Not even a month ago, the boys and girls and others at Bayerische Motoren Werke aka BMW teased us with a bit of a sneaky image of a 2023 BMW M3 Touring doing some drifties in the snow. M fans were left wanting with literally no information given, although by deduction it seems as though the wild wagon will feature BMW’s wonderful M xDrive all-wheel drive system.
With a slew of exciting vehicles on the way in 2022 to mark the M division’s 50th anniversary, the 2023 BMW M3 Touring will sit as an exciting new offering alongside the second-generation M2 and the hardcore M4 CSL, both due this year, too.
Think M3 Competition, but with space for many more things…
Still covered in camouflage, the fresh new teaser images came from BMW via ‘the socials’ and from what we can see, the ‘Touring will be based on the facelifted 3 Series, featuring a not insignificantly reworked dashboard, as well as iDrive 8. We can tell that this is the case because the top of the dashboard is now flat, indicating that side-by-side screens are present, one for the central touchscreen and the other for the digital cluster, much akin to what one might find in the iX and i4.
It has also been rumoured that the M3 Touring will feature exclusively in automatic and Competition guise, with three pedals and a wobbly stick not an option here, oh dear. Still, it’ll likely be more suited to daily-driving with the slick ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, which as we know from the M3 and M4 Competition, strikes such a wonderful balance between epic, fast cog-swaps when gunning it and silky-smooth shifting while cruising along.
There’s also no word yet on South African availability of the M3 Touring, so for now, let’s just cross our fingers and say ‘M3 Touring’ three times…
