Toyota Hilux in India 2022 | Interior, Exterior, Price and Launch Date | by Dream Car Automotive
The deliveries of Toyota Hilux in India will commence in March 2022. A YouTube channel “Dream Car Automotive” has managed to make a small walk-around video of the “Low” variant of the India-spec Toyota Hilux.
The video reveals all the features of the “Low” variant, which will be positioned below the top-spec “High” variant. Toyota has stopped accepting the bookings for the Hilux formally due to high demand and supply constraints.
What will Toyota Hilux Low (base variant) offer?
The all-new Hilux will offer a chrome surrounded front grille
The India-spec “Low” variant of the Toyota Hilux is based on the global-spec version, in terms of looks and stance. The large pickup truck gets halogen projector headlamps and chrome surround for the grille at the front. On the side, it gets chrome-plated door handles and rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators and black-coloured 17-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the Hilux gets LED inserts in the tail lamps and chrome garnish around the deck lid handle and on the bumper corners.

What are the features available with the Toyota Hilux Low?
Toyota will offer a slew of features even with the base variant
The YouTuber did not show the cabin of the India-spec model. It is of the Thailand-spec model, which is why the steering is on the left-hand side of the vehicle. But it indicates all the features the Hilux get on the inside in the Thailand market.
While the India-spec version will have the same dashboard design with an all-black finish and right-hand drive layout, it gets a different features list for both “Low” and “High” variants. The India-spec “Low” variant which is shown in the external walk-around video will offer a long list of features.
The base trim level will offer features like manual AC, cruise control, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, push start-stop button, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, six-speaker JBL audio system, and 60:40 split rear seats.
In addition, the “High” variant will also come equipped with leather upholstery for seats, steering wheel and gear lever, dual-zone automatic climate control, powered driver’s seat, chrome-plated inside door handles, and rear centre armrest.
What will power the new Toyota Hilux?
Both the variants will offer the same engine option as well
Both the Low and High variants of the Toyota Hilux are confirmed to get a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the Toyota Fortuner, which produces 204 bhp of maximum power output. Available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options, the Hilux claims 420 Nm of torque for the manual version and 500 Nm of torque for the automatic variant.
The Toyota Hilux also gets a four-wheel-drive system as standard for both the variants, which packs in features like high and low range gearbox, electronic drive control (2WD/4WD), electronic differential locking, and auto-limited slip differential.
It looks like a typical truck from the rear
It also gets safety features like seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, downhill assist control, active traction control, front and rear parking sensors and reverse camera as standard.
Toyota is likely to put a price tag of around Rs 35 lakh on the Hilux. Do you think it will be a popular car in the Indian market? Do share your views in the comments below.
